The school enjoys good working relationships with a wide range of people who provide services to children with SEND and their families, particularly when a child is demonstrating further cause for concern or their learning need is more complex and persistent.
The external specialists may:
- Act in an advisory capacity
- Extend expertise of school staff
- Provide additional assessment
- Support a child directly
- Suggest statutory assessment is advisable
- Consult with all parties involved with the child
These include:
- Durham SEND Information, Advice and Support Service
- Learning Difficulties and Disability Support Service
- Special Educational Needs – Inclusion Team
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Support Group
- CAMHS Assessment Team
- Crisis Response
- Durham Educational Psychology Service
- Durham Movement Difficulties Service
- One Point Children’s Service
- School Nurse Service
- Looked After Children
- Speech and Language Therapy
- The Service for the Visually Impaired
- Tree Tops Occupational Therapy
We work with a number of other agencies to meet individual needs fully:
- Medical Practitioners
- Educational Social Workers
- The Education Welfare Service
- Health Agencies and medical professionals
- We employ a counsellor to support children as needed
At each step in the process, parents and carers are involved. All of the professionals we work with meet with parents and carers to gain their views and feedback their findings. They offer support and advice to ensure that the support we provide in school is also provided at home.
Additional support for Parents and Carers is available from Durham SENDIASS and Durham Core Assets
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
